Ep. 06-12: Sleepy Hollow (1999)

In 1799, young constable Ichabod Crane (Johnny Depp) is sent from New York City to a small town called Sleepy Hollow to investigate a series of murders. There, Crane discovers that three of the killings were of the most notable men in town. The town council says that the murders are the work of the legendary headless horseman, the ghost of a Hessian soldier who was beheaded in battle. With help from a young sidekick and the beautiful Katrina Van Tassel (Christina Ricci), Crane’s investigation leads him to answers bordering both logic and the supernatural.

Happy Halloween! We couldn’t think of a better film to celebrate the haunted holiday than Tim Burton’s masterful Sleepy Hollow (1999). Join us as we discuss this work steeped in history and influence, from the original Washington Irving short story, through Burton’s love of gothic horror and Hammer film studios. Listen, as Johnny Has Keys gallops furiously through the dark and foggy woods, seeking to escape a headless demon in pursuit!

WALL-E (Waste Allocation Load Lifter Earth-class) is the last robot left on Earth. He spends his days tidying up the planet, one piece of garbage at a time. But during the past centuries, WALL-E has become lonely. One day, he spots EVE, a sleek and shapely probe sent back to Earth on a scanning mission. Smitten WALL-E embarks on his greatest adventure, hitchhiking a ride and following EVE across the galaxy.
We’re back with not only our 2nd animated film but also our second Disney movie. From the geniuses at Pixar, WALL-E (2008) is a stunning achievement, a visual, heartfelt, and emotional ride told almost entirely with no dialogue. Join us as we discuss the things that contribute to this movie’s (one of our favorites of the entire season) success. Listen, as Johnny Has the Keys leaves a desolate earth, hyper-speeding across the galaxy in pursuit of love.

Ep. 03-19: 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea

Welcome to the coverage of our first Disney film! And what a film it is… the original 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea was a milestone in special effects and movie production, with an A-list cast and the power of a major studio behind a unique science fiction project. Join us as we discuss the pros and cons of this epic sci-fi adventure. Listen, as Johnny Has the Keys dives deep into the water, where monster squids lurk and where a mad Captain haunts the sea in a metal beast called the Nautilus.

Never fear, we catch most of the audio and (with video) the error seems to correct itself shortly. We are working on solutions to this problem.***
