On a Mars mission, astronaut, Mark Watney, is left behind by his crew and presumed dead after a fierce storm. Watney finds himself stranded and alone on the hostile planet. Now, he must draw upon his ingenuity to survive as well as find a means of communicating to Earth that he is alive. NASA and a team of international scientists work to bring him home, while his crewmates plot a daring, nearly impossible, rescue mission.

The Martian (2015), based on the popular indie novel (2011) of the same name, is a thrilling rescue story and (fairly) accurate regarding the science of science fiction. It is also a welcome return to one of our favorite directors, Ridley Scott (Alien 1979, Blade Runner 1982). Join us as we discuss the origins of the story, the production, cast, effects, and sheer culmination of talent that brought it to fruition. Listen, as Johnny has the Keys lands on a desolate, freezing, desert planet where a man battles the odds, his only goal to stay alive and return home.
